Overview

The Department of Energy (DOE) is planning to issue a funding opportunity announcement DE-FOA-0003256 known as the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA): Methane Emissions Reduction Program Oil and Gas Methane Monitoring and Mitigation. The main aim of this grant is to provide financial support for the monitoring and mitigation of methane emissions and air pollution from oil and gas assets, which includes but is not limited to marginal conventional wells (MCWs).

The intent is to stimulate innovation in methane emissions reduction technologies and promote their commercial deployment. Moreover, these funds are expected to support the collection and analysis of detailed, measurement-based data for better understanding and further reduction of these emissions. This initiative will also consider aspects of environmental justice.

Please note that the Notice of Intent for this funding opportunity is purely informational, and the DOE is currently not seeking public feedback on its contents.
