Overview

The CDC is planning to distribute grant funds to support Health Promotion Programs focusing on Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Tourette Syndrome (TS). This is part of a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) initiative to implement these evidence-based programs.

The end goal is three-fold:

Firstly, it aims to enhance comprehension, management, and availability of evidence-based services for individuals suffering from ADHD or TS. This initiative is designed to equitably reach individuals and their families across a diverse range of socioeconomic, geographic, racial and ethnic backgrounds.

Secondly, the NOFO aims to bolster the ability of healthcare professionals to correctly diagnose and provide evidence-based treatments to persons afflicted with these conditions.

Lastly, it intends to boost the ability of education professionals to deploy evidence-based strategies that can provide support for children with these conditions. This will facilitate their learning and boost their academic success.

As part of a cooperative partnership, the teams will develop, distribute, assess, and continuously refine public health communication. Additionally, they will create educational tools and products to promote evidence-based information about ADHD or TS symptoms, diagnostic methods, and treatments. These materials are intended for those with these conditions, their families, healthcare providers, and educators.

To continuously improve these programs and ensure their effectiveness, racial, ethnic, geographic, and socioeconomic data will be gathered when it is possible. The purpose is to continually enhance communication channels and ensure diverse audiences are reached in an equitable way through these programs and products.
