Overview

This funding opportunity notice (NOFO) aims at attracting applications for mechanistic transdisciplinary research focused on social behavior related to Substance Use Disorders (SUD). The proposed research should utilize non-human animal models and should synthesize methods from social/cognitive neuroscience and other relevant fields. The ultimate aim is to develop a working conceptual or computation model to better understand social behavior's impact on the beginning, progression, and consequences of SUD and associated conditions. While human subject studies are not applicable for this grant, those interested in such research can refer to companion NOFOs. The grant also supports the secondary analysis of previously collected animal model data. The priorities of this NOFO are focused on basic or translational research. Clinical trials are not part of this funding opportunity.
