Overview

The National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP) has announced a funding opportunity to support research projects aimed at improving interventions and programs for HIV, viral hepatitis, STD, TB, and adolescent health. This initiative aims to use advanced data analytics and disease modeling to inform and enhance these health initiatives.

For a considerable time, NCHHSTP has relied on epidemiologic and economic models to enhance data use for program improvement. Over the last decade, the Center has collaborated with external partners to bolster the use of data to understand the efficiency, outcomes, impact, and cost-effectiveness of programs, policies, and activities.

The current funding opportunity is derived from past successful modeling efforts and aims to upgrade existing models that assist in making informed decisions. It facilitates tools and data prioritization for public interventions and programs and guides the allocation of limited program resources.

Moreover, this funding opportunity will widen the usage of advanced data analytics through predictive models, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. It also encourages the development and implementation of research based on these innovative data analytic projects, aligning with NCHHSTP's public health priorities.

Through this funding mechanism, NCHHSTP aims to enhance its capacity to conduct scientifically valid studies of public health interventions and programs. These scientifically-grounded models will enable the CDC to support its federal, state, and local partners more efficiently, thereby boosting the efficacy of public health interventions in the target areas of HIV, viral hepatitis, STD, TB, and adolescent health.
