Overview

The U.S. Department of Justice’s National Institute of Justice (NIJ), part of Office of Justice Programs (OJP), is welcoming applications for funding relating to its NIJ FY24 Research and Evaluation on Trafficking in Persons project. The OJP's mission includes promoting civil rights, ensuring equity, improving access to justice, aiding crime victims and those affected by the justice system, as well as upholding community safety and public protection.

A key objective of this project is fostering trust between law enforcement and communities. The NIJ, in partnership with the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), wants to expand its research into effectively understanding, preventing, and responding to human trafficking within the United States. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to propose research projects that will directly impact criminal justice policy and practice domestically.

The NIJ FY24 is specifically looking for research and evaluation proposals focused on two central themes —, first, the victimization and prevalence of trafficking and second, the relationship between technology and trafficking.

By championing these research projects, the Department of Justice continues to reinforce its commitment to upholding the rule of law, keeping the country safe, and protecting civil rights.
