Overview

The Poison Control Centers (PCC) Program is offering funding opportunities to assist in minimizing poisonings and their resulting damages across the United States. The PCC program serves to assure that everyone in the U.S. has access to expert consultation on preventing and handling instances of poisoning through a Poison Control Center.

The major objectives of this program include:

1. Supporting activities aimed at preventing poisonings.

2. Ensuring that callers to the Poison Help Line receive top-quality advice and information.

3. Providing poison treatment recommendations when necessary.

4. Gathering data related to incidents of poisoning and their outcomes.

5. Using this data to inform measures in public health and emergency preparedness.

To achieve these goals, the program aims to:

1. Maintain the number of calls received by the Poison Help Line.

2. Preserve the proportion of human exposure poisoning case calls coming from healthcare facilities and practitioners.

3. Increase the percentage of human exposure poisoning cases where a follow-up contact has been completed.

4. Increase the availability of national poisoning data in the National Poison Data System (NPDS) for screenings of toxic exposure.

Offering this grant enables the PCC Program to continue their vital work and expands its reach even further.
