Overview

The Rehabilitation Engineering Research Centers (RERC) Program has initiated a project titled "RERC on Information and Communication Technologies Access". The primary aim of this program is to advance rehabilitation services by applying advanced engineering research to develop and enhance innovative technologies. These technologies are created specifically to resolve certain rehabilitation queries and to eradicate environmental obstacles.

Along with the development of these technologies, these centers also have to demonstrate and evaluate these innovative solutions, promote changes to the system of service delivery, and stimulate the production and distribution of new equipment and technologies within the private sector. Furthermore, RERCs also focus on providing training opportunities.

This specific RERC project will dedicate itself to the research and development of pioneering strategies and technologies, intending to make information and communication technologies readily accessible and useful to individuals with disabilities.

The National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) has plans to award one grant for this opportunity. This grant will cover a project span of 60 months, divided into five 12-month budget periods.
