Overview

The National Institute of Justice (NIJ), a division of the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ) Office of Justice Programs (OJP), is welcoming applications for the NIJ FY24 Graduate Research Fellowship. This fellowship is aimed at funding doctoral dissertation research concerning the prevention and control of crime, comprehensive victim services, and the impartial administration of justice for juveniles and adults in the United States.

The DOJ, upholding its mission to maintain the rule of law, safeguard the nation, and protect civil rights, intends to contribute to the academic community by increasing the number of researchers offering science-backed solutions to issues pertaining to criminal and juvenile justice policies and practices.

OJP, backing this endeavor, is dedicated to furthering work that champions civil rights, equality, and enhanced access to justice. By supporting victims of crime and individuals impacted by the justice system, the OJP aims to reinforce community safety, protect the public from crime and emerging threats. Ultimately, the program seeks to foster trust between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.
