Overview

The High Priority HIV and Substance Use Research grant is an opportunity for significant research at the crossroads of HIV and substance use. Both individual researchers and research teams are encouraged to submit applications that showcase projects with the potential to explore new aspects of HIV/AIDS research, or lead to fresh strategies for prevention, treatment and cure of HIV among people who use drugs.

To qualify, applications must present a detailed research plan, preliminary data, and must clearly show a connection with substance use. The funding encompasses a broad scope of research, ranging from basic science to clinical and implementation research.

However, all submitted research must align mainly with the NIH HIV/AIDS Research Priorities mentioned in the guidelines, specifically referenced as NOT-OD-20-018: UPDATE. This grant is versatile, as clinical trials are optional and not a necessary component of proposed projects.
