Overview

The Genomic Medicine eConsult Research Network (also known as the eConsult Network) is offering a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). It is looking for 2-3 sites to undertake research on how best to implement genomic medicine eConsult services on a regional scale. With oversight from the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), the sites will study the potential effects that the services could have on clinicians who choose to use them.

The research will be especially focused on the best ways to create, develop, and roll out these eConsult services within a region. As part of this research, the sites will be tasked with promoting the services to potential users, particularly those in underserved areas. Moreover, an important part of the project will be to measure the impact that the services have on those who use them.

Another key element of the research will be to design successful strategies for implementing the service and creating resources that can be widely shared and adopted. These strategies and resources are intended to help with the widespread implementation of eConsult services in future.

All sites that participate in the eConsult Network will receive funding for their work. It should be noted that clinical trials are optional, but not required, under this particular grant opportunity.
