State contacts Stand Down Grants are provided to organizations for the purpose of hosting Stand Down Events that provide a wide variety of employment, social, and health services to veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness in order to promote self sufficiency and help individuals reenter the workforce.

Required services include:

Health screenings and examinations

Housing/shelter referral

Mental health services

Department of Labor employment and job training assistance

Veterans' benefit counseling

Access to basic hygiene supplies, showers, haircuts, attention to health concerns, and other collaborative services may also be provided to participants on the day of the event.
