Overview

This grant, titled "Early-Stage Development of Informatics Technologies for Cancer Research and Management" with an optional clinical trial (U01), aims at advancing cancer model systems. These systems should replicate human immunity within the tumor's environment, aiming to enhance the predictive capability of studies related to immuno-oncology.

The envisaged research projects need to concentrate on reconstruction or reproduction of the human immune system in a proposed cancer model. They should use human cells or tissues to either rebuild or simulate the human immune system. This can be in either in vivo or in vitro models linked to immuno-oncology. The goal is to match or even exceed the representation of the human immune system that has been obtained with mouse models developed using HFT.

Please note that any models derived from manipulated immune systems, that do not introduce human immune lineage cells, will not be taken into consideration. The grant will employ the R33 Exploratory/Developmental Grants Phase II research activity code.
