Overview

The 2024 Dual Use Technology Development initiative at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) is aimed at identifying prospective technology partnerships with industrial and academic/non-profit organizations based in the U.S. This aims to align with the technology development interests of MSFC and ensure a broad range of users can benefit from these innovations. Consequently, ensuring the nation can fully recognize the economic and societal benefits derived from these advancements.

The primary objective of this initiative is to support collaborative projects that share resources. This will be achieved by having NASA partners develop technology primarily for public application. NASA, in turn, will provide financial backing or any other necessary support. The initiative leverages the assistance listing 43.012 Space Technology, focusing on supporting ideas from entrepreneurs, researchers, and innovators to push forward the commercial space sector and contribute to future NASA missions.

This initiative is backed by, The National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958, 51 U.S.C. 20113(e), which has been updated to include “the preservation of the role of the United States as a leader in aeronautical and space science and technology and in the application thereof to the conduct of peaceful activities within and outside the atmosphere.”

Applicants interested in this initiative can find the complete 80MSFC24M0001 Cooperative Agreement Notice document and associated template files in the 'Related Documents' section. This document includes the submission instructions for the Step-1 Package and additional guidance.
