This grant, titled "Functional Validation and/or Characterization of Genes or Variants Implicated in Substance Use Disorders (R21/R33 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)", aims to support projects that use genome or epigenome editing to validate and study genes or variants that have a role in substance use disorders. This initiative hopes that by funding such projects, new genetic resources will be created and widely shared within the scientific community. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to uncover the neurobiological mechanisms involved in substance use disorders, which could as a result, provide essential knowledge to create better prevention methods, diagnostic tools, and therapies in the future.
