Overview
Applications must be rooted in a strong hypothesis supported by robust preliminary data. The proposal can include studies, models, resources or technologies, provided they meet one or more of the following criteria: they address research interests shared by multiple NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs); they delve into multifaceted organ systems; or they are applicable to diseases and procedures that affect various organ systems. These measures are to align with ORIP's cross-departmental mission and programs.
Proposals should aim to improve the accuracy, repeatability, and cross-disciplinary applicability of animal research. They should involve the development and implementation of significant resources, technologies or tools that will have extensive impact across a wide range of animal model-based research fields. Candidates must demonstrate the potential impact of their proposed resources and technologies on the rigorousness and reproducibility of animal studies.
