Overview

The Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP) is inviting applications for a grant titled "Development of Resources and Technologies for Enhancing Rigor, Reproducibility, and Translatability of Animal Models in Biomedical Research (R01)". This grant opportunity aims to foster the development and implementation of technologies, tools, and resources that will validate and improve the exactness, reliability, and adaptability of animal models used in biomedical research.

Grant applicants must submit a research project proposal that is driven by a hypothesis and backed with robust preliminary data. The scope of the proposed study, including the models, tools, or technologies, needs to be broad. It should either cater to the research interests of several NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs), conduct research on several organ systems, or be applicable to diseases and processes influencing multiple organ systems. This wide applicability is required to align with ORIP's NIH-wide mission and programs.

The main objective should be to augment the precision, repeatability, and cross-applicability of animal research by introducing novel technologies, tools, and resources that will significantly influence a wide array of research areas using animal models. It is essential for applicants to illustrate how their proposed resources and technologies will enhance the scientific rigor and reproducibility of animal research studies.
