Overview

The Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP) is inviting researchers to apply for a grant titled "Development of Resources and Technologies for Enhancing Rigor, Reproducibility, and Translatability of Animal Models in Biomedical Research" classified under the R01 Research Project Grant category. The aim of this grant is to fund development and introduction of reliable technologies, tools, and resources which will help in authenticating animal models thus reinforcing the precision, reproducibility, and applicability of animal studies in biomedical research.

Applications must be rooted in a strong hypothesis supported by robust preliminary data. The proposal can include studies, models, resources or technologies, provided they meet one or more of the following criteria: they address research interests shared by multiple NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs); they delve into multifaceted organ systems; or they are applicable to diseases and procedures that affect various organ systems. These measures are to align with ORIP's cross-departmental mission and programs.

Proposals should aim to improve the accuracy, repeatability, and cross-disciplinary applicability of animal research. They should involve the development and implementation of significant resources, technologies or tools that will have extensive impact across a wide range of animal model-based research fields. Candidates must demonstrate the potential impact of their proposed resources and technologies on the rigorousness and reproducibility of animal studies.
