Overview
This NOFO is specifically interested in R33 applications, where the technology or method in question has already demonstrated significant feasibility, supported by preliminary data. However, these technologies likely still need more development and stringent validation to garner acceptance and adoption by the wider research community.
Successful applications must show the potential to speed up and/or enhance research in the areas of cancer biology, early detection and screening, clinical diagnosis, treatment, control, epidemiology. They could also address issues related to cancer health disparities.
While the technologies proposed for development should have the potential for widespread use, the focus must be on improving molecular and/or cellular characterisations of cancer. Projects that propose to use existing technologies where the innovation lies in the biological or clinical target/question are not appropriate for this NOFO and will not be considered.
This funding opportunity is part of the broader NCI-sponsored Innovative Molecular Analysis Technologies (IMAT) Program.
