Overview

The Nursing Research Education Program in Firearm Injury Prevention Research: Short Courses (R25 Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed) is a grant program aimed at supporting the creation and execution of short educational courses. These courses are designed to train nurse scientists, as well as scientists in related disciplines, to conduct research on firearm injury prevention, aligning with the NINR (National Institute of Nursing Research) Strategic Plan.

Interested applicants are encouraged to apply with proposals that add to the existing body of knowledge, methods, and practices associated with injury prevention, while specifically focusing on firearm injuries. The program is also looking for applications that involve content associated with the disparities of firearm injuries.

Disparities can include differences based on race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, location, or their intersections. The program further encourages research at various levels, spanning from individual, community, institutional, and even structural levels. The main goal of the program is to promote a comprehensive approach towards the study and prevention of firearm injuries.
