Overview

The NIOSH Small Research Grant Program aims to improve workplace safety and health. The program’s goal is to gain a deeper comprehension of the dangers and situations related to occupational diseases and injuries. The project focuses on devising strategies to diminish these risks and prevent or limit exposure to hazardous conditions at work.

The objective is not just to create safer practices but also to apply key scientific discoveries into real prevention mechanisms. This would be in the form of practices and products designed to efficiently curtail occupational illness and injuries. The program utilizes the NIOSH R03 grant mechanism which caters to small-scale research relating to workplace safety and health.

This is achieved through projects that require limited resources, focusing on pilot and feasibility studies, analysis of existent data or crafting innovative research methodologies. So, in a nutshell, the main aim is to encourage research that will open more efficient ways to lower work-related diseases and injuries while using minimal resources.
