Overview
The National Human Genome Research Institute plans to issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for a grant called "Advancing Genomic Medicine Research." This grant will not require a clinical trial (R21 Clinical Trial Optional). The goal of the grant is to encourage innovative applications that will help determine the optimal ways to use and share genomic information and technology as part of medical care. The intent is to include everyone, especially those in underrepresented populations who face health disparities. This includes ethnic and racial minority groups, individuals with lower socioeconomic status, people in underserved rural areas, and those in sexual and gender minority groups. This grant proposal is based on a concept that has been approved by the National Advisory Council on Human Genome Research. The aim of this announcement is to give potential applicants ample time to prepare and respond. Detailed information regarding the FOA will be provided in the future.
