Overview

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is offering a research education program called Advancing the Careers of a Diverse Research Workforce, under its R25 scheme. This program is specifically designed not to include clinical trials. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Research Education Program (R25) is intended to support research education aligned with the NIH’s mission areas.

The primary objective of the R25 program is to support educational activities that motivate people from diverse backgrounds to pursue further studies or careers in research. A special emphasis has been placed on encouraging individuals from groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral sciences.

In order to achieve this overall goal, the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) will fund educational activities that concentrate primarily on three areas: Courses for Skills Development, Research Experiences, and Mentoring Activities.
