Overview

The Treasury is inviting applications for a grant under the RESTORE Act. This grant is specifically for construction and real property acquisition activities, which could include projects for environmental restoration. Projects that qualify may be with or without a federal cost-share.

The Direct Component grant covers both activities that require permits from federal or state agencies and natural resource restoration projects. However, if an activity does not concern construction, land acquisition, or environmental restoration, applicants should apply through the non-construction funding opportunity (GR-RDC-23-001).

The funds for the grant are from the Treasury's Trust Fund, complying with the regulations of 31 CFR 34.201. These funds must be used for projects pertaining to:

1. Protection and restoration of natural resources, fisheries, ecosystems, marine, and wildlife habitats, beaches, and coastal wetlands in the Gulf Coast region.

2. Mitigation of damage to fish, wildlife, and natural resources.

3. Implementation of Federally-approved marine, coastal, or conservation management plans, including fisheries monitoring.

4. Workforce development and job creation.

5. Improvements to State parks in coastal areas affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

6. Economic or ecologically beneficial infrastructure projects, including port infrastructure.

7. Coastal flood protection and related infrastructure.

8. Promotion of tourism in the Gulf Coast region, particularly recreational fishing.

9. Promotion of seafood consumption from the Gulf Coast region.

10. Planning assistance.

11. Administrative costs.

It's important to note that eligible activities from 1 through 7 must take place in the Gulf Coast region.
