Overview

The NCMRR Early Career Research Award R03, which includes the option of clinical trials, is designed to assist rehabilitation scientists in the beginning stages of their research careers. This award encourages both basic and clinical research and thus is beneficial to both types of research. The scope of research supported by the award should fall within the mandate of the NCMRR. Applicants can refer to the NIH Research Plan on Rehabilitation to see examples of strategic priorities in this field.

The award provides support for various research projects. These can include the secondary analysis of existing data, small self-contained research projects, development of research methodology, translational research, outcomes research, and the creation of new technology. Whatever the specific project, the ultimate goal of the NCMRR Early Career Research Award R03 is to help the Program Director(s) or Principal Investigator(s) involved accumulate enough preliminary data to apply for a more substantial R01 application.
