Overview

The Avenir Award Program for Chemistry and Pharmacology of Substance Use Disorders aims to attract and support new and noteworthy scientists keen to explore the field of chemical and pharmacological substance use disorders. This program particularly hopes to encourage early-career individuals who may not yet have the necessary preliminary data to apply for an R01 grant, yet propose influential and innovative research and have potential to become future leaders in this field.

We recognize that there have been tremendous advancements in recent years regarding identifying novel targets, mechanisms and paths of interest relevant to substance use disorders. This includes recognizing probes and optimizing compounds for creating new therapeutic agents. We want this program to empower investigators who possess knowledge in the rapidly evolving chemical, pharmacological and drug discovery technologies to conduct innovative and groundbreaking research on the chemical and pharmacological elements of substance use disorders.

Please note clinical trials are not permitted under this Award Program.
