Overview

The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) has a cooperative agreement known as "Clinical Trials in Communication Disorders" (U01 - Clinical Trial Required). The main goal of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to support the identification of effective treatments or prevention strategies for communication disorders through the implementation of well-designed and properly executed clinical trials.

This FOA gives an opportunity for a cooperative agreement involving a project scientist from NIDCD and an external investigator. If chosen, the support from this FOA can be used to conduct a clinical trial that meets at least one of the following criteria:

1. Requires oversight by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

2. Is designed to formally establish the efficacy of a treatment or prevention strategy.

3. Involves a higher risk of causing potential physical or psychological harm.

Through this initiative, NIDCD underscores its commitment to enhancing communication health by supporting investigative efforts toward the discovery of effective interventions for communication disorders.
