Overview

The Enhancing Biomedical Engineering, Imaging, and Technology Acceleration (BEITA) grant aims to improve and cultivate Biomedical Engineering (BME) departments, interdisciplinary technology centers, and academic programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The grant does not involve any clinical trials (UG3/UH3). Once the project details are finalized, the grant purpose will be updated.

The grant facilitates a range of initiatives, including the following:

1. This initiative aims to enrich the research and educational opportunities for trainees in bioengineering and technology development, specifically targeting both undergraduate and graduate levels.

2. The grant will assist in developing plans for core technology facilities, including maker spaces and data science centers.

3. The BEITA grant supports the recruitment of faculty members and the development of collaborative research programs, training initiatives, and partnerships.

4. The aid also facilitates the construction and evolution of curriculum along with the development of new courses.

5. The grant will foster innovation and entrepreneurship programs.

6. The BEITA grant also puts an emphasis on planning for the sustainability of programs. This includes laying down roadmaps and prep schemes to ensure that each initiative may continue to function effectively once the grant term is over.
