Overview

The Catalyst Award for Early-Stage Investigators (ESIs) is a grant focused on HIV research, specifically in relation to comorbidities, coinfections, and complications. Designed for innovative early-stage researchers, this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) intends to support unique, groundbreaking studies that not only have the potential to unlock new spheres of HIV/AIDS research, but also go beyond traditional concepts and approaches.

This award encourages studies that present fresh, innovative scientific directions not found elsewhere, either within the investigator's program or elsewhere. It's crucial that these projects align with the scientific priorities established by the NIH's (National Institutes of Health) Office of AIDS Research (OAR).

These priorities have most recently been outlined in NOT-OD-20-018. While this grant accommodates clinical trials, it isn't obligatory to include them. The main intent is to push the boundaries of traditional HIV/AIDS research, and thereby cultivate pioneering ideas in the field.
