Overview

The Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP) is calling for grant applications that aim to develop, characterize, or enhance animal models for HIV/AIDS research. This initiative also includes improving access to information from these specialized animal models. The animal models or related materials to be developed should have relevance to the scientific interests of more than one NIH Institute or Center (ICs) and should have the ability to investigate multiple body systems.

This aligns with the ORIP's goal to impose their NIH-wide mission and programs as well as to support the research priorities of the NIH Office of AIDS Research. The applications should outline the necessity and the potential impact of the proposed resources on HIV/AIDS research.

However, any application creating a limited number of resources or resources that do not have a far-reaching impact on HIV/AIDS research will not be eligible for this Funding Opportunity Announcement. Please note that R24 Clinical Trials are not permitted under this scheme.
