Overview

The Bioengineering Research Grants (BRG) is a funding opportunity that does not support clinical trials (R01). It aims to encourage collaborations between life sciences and physical sciences. The goal of such collaborations is twofold:

First, to apply a multidisciplinary bioengineering approach towards solving biomedical problems. This means that participants are encouraged to utilize various scientific perspectives and methods to address issues in the medical field, contributing to better health outcomes.

Secondly, this grant fosters the further development, integration, optimization, validation, translation, or acceleration of promising tools, techniques, and methods. These could be pertaining to any specific issue in the broad spectrum of basic science, translational science, or clinical science and practice.

The BRG welcomes applications that propose design-directed, developmental, discovery-driven, or hypothesis-driven research. The grant program is particularly suitable for small teams that adopt an integrative approach to understand and solve issues in biological, clinical, or translational science.
