Overview
The purpose of this grant is to stimulate substantial progress in diminishing these disparities and promoting health equity. To do this, the projects should be based on logical and compelling strategies that have the potential to dramatically impact this issue. The research areas should reflect community-focused priorities and can range from studying the causes (etiology), prevention measures, health service research (including research on how best to disseminate and implement the research findings), clinical neuroscience, medical consequences, as well as potential treatments and interventions.
No preliminary data are required to apply for this grant, shedding light on the willingness to promote innovative and novel ideas. What is required, however, is a clear demonstration of how these projects - through the power of their proposed logic or approach - can effectively deliver notable impacts on racial or ethnic disparities in substance misuse. This NIDA grant aims to address this significant public health issue through a joint effort between investigators and community members, ensuring that the research is both responsive and relevant to community needs.
