Overview

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) has launched the Racial Equity Visionary Award Program under the Research Enhancements Initiative (REI). The program is aimed at promoting research at Minority Serving Institutions, specifically focused on substance use and racial equity. The program extends invitations for DP1 award applications to innovative early-stage researchers aiming to fundamentally impact equity across various populations affected by substance use-related problems.

While researchers from different research backgrounds are encouraged to apply, the program particularly seeks research projects that address persistent or stubborn issues impacting disparities in medical outcomes and other effects related to substance use and Substance Use Disorders (SUD) across diverse population groups. It's noteworthy that the inclusion of a clinical trial is optional in this program. The overarching goal of the program is to foster advancements in addressing equality concerning substance misuse-related harm.
