Overview

The Operations Engineering (OE) program is a grant that funds studies aimed at refining operations within complex, decision-heavy environments. It encourages researchers to use advanced analytical techniques such as deterministic and stochastic modeling, optimization, data science, decision & risk analysis, and simulation.

Whilst, emphasis is placed on methodological research, it's expected that these methods are motivated by challenges that could significantly impact engineering applications. Consequently, research proposals that are methodologically focused, but lack strong motivation from potential engineering applications, are not suitable for this funding program.

The program is particularly interested in applications within commercial enterprises, such as production/manufacturing systems, goods distribution, and service delivery; the public sector, like public safety and security; and public/private partnerships, such as healthcare, environmental, and energy sectors. New and emerging domains are also welcomed, especially those addressing systemic societal or technological problems.

The OE program greatly values proposals with interdisciplinary qualities, placing emphasis on blending application-specific skills with detailed quantitative analysis within a decision-making framework. For any program-related queries, the program directors should be contacted.
