Overview
The NCI is seeking proposals for observational and/or interventional studies that aim to understand the specific challenges and obstacles faced by SGM individuals with cancer and to propose strategies to improve their care and outcomes. Of particular importance is the use of interoperable sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data collection in cancer care settings. This will ensure that the research projects capture accurate and comprehensive data on the experiences and needs of SGM cancer survivors.
The funded studies will contribute to our understanding of the barriers faced by SGM individuals in accessing quality cancer care and will propose innovative approaches to overcome these barriers. By collecting SOGI data, researchers will be able to identify trends and patterns in the experiences of SGM cancer survivors, allowing for targeted interventions and improvements in care.
This grant opportunity is open to researchers who can design and conduct studies that focus on SGM cancer survivors. The proposed studies can be observational or interventional in nature, and should aim to provide insights into the challenges faced by SGM individuals and offer potential solutions for improving their care and outcomes.
Through this grant, the NCI aims to advance the field of cancer care by addressing the unique needs and experiences of SGM cancer survivors. By supporting research projects that focus on this population, the NCI hopes to facilitate improvements in care, reduce disparities, and enhance the overall well-being of SGM individuals affected by cancer.
