Enhancement and Management of Established Biomedical Data Repositories and Knowledgebases (U24 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

This notice is for a grant aimed at the enhancement and management of existing biomedical data repositories and knowledge bases. It does not relate to any clinical trial, and is only applicable to organizations that manage biomedical data resources which are already having a significant impact and show potential to continue being beneficial to the mission of any of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Institutes and Centers.

The grant is particularly interested in applications that deliver scientific impact to the communities they serve. Applicants must demonstrate good data management practices, complying with the FAIR Data Principles and meeting NIH's desired characteristics for repositories. These practices should translate into efficiency and quality in the operation and services offered by the repository.

The grant also seeks applications that actively engage with their user community and consistently meet their needs. They should have processes in place for analyzing the life-cycle of data, as well as for long-term preservation and trustworthy governance of the data.

The evaluation process for the grant will assess repositories on a number of factors. These include their usage, utility, impact, data quality and services provided, the efficiency of their operations, the level of community needs and engagement they address, their trustworthiness in stewardship and their governance standards.
