Overview

The Seattle Economic Development Administration (EDA) is introducing a new grants management platform known as the Economic Development Grants Experience (EDGE). This platform will centralize and simplify the grant application process and is expected to increase transparency, enhance user interaction, and allow better data quality and efficiency throughout the grant lifecycle. From April 6, 2023 onwards, applications for EDA grants will only be received via the EDGE platform and can no longer be submitted on Grants.gov.

If you wish to apply for the grant, visit the sfgrants.eda.gov website. Detailed instructions on the application process are provided in the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).

Note that applicants will be specifically invited to the EDGE platform for the EDA Partnership Planning Program. If you require further information, you should contact your designated EDA representative.

The main aim of the EDA is to invest in planning and local technical assistance to promote economic development, create jobs and attract private investments to economically challenged parts of the United States. The EDA offers Partnership Planning, Short-Term Planning, and State Planning awards to eligible recipients. The award is aimed at creating and implementing regional economic development plans to increase capacity and guide the economic progress and resilience of a particular area or region.

The EDA also provides Partnership Planning investments to specific planning organizations such as District Organizations and Indian Tribes, which enables the development, implementation, or modification of Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS). Similarly, the EDA offers Short-Term and State Planning award for economic development planning activities that guide the creation and retention of high-quality jobs. These are especially targeted towards the unemployed and underemployed from economically challenged regions.

Furthermore, under the Local Technical Assistance program, awards are given out to strengthen the capacity of local or state organizations, institutions of higher education, and other eligible entities to increase their ability for developing and promoting effective economic development programs.

It is important to note that the ED900A form and the SF424B form, as stated in the Notice of Funding Opportunity (under "Related Documents"), are no longer required and have been removed from the package template.
