Overview

The Atlanta FY 2021 – FY 2023 EDA Planning and Local Technical Assistance grant is now accepting applications on its newly launched platform known as the Economic Development Grants Experience (EDGE). This platform was created to enhance the application and grants process. It is noteworthy that from the 6th of April, 2023, applications will strictly be taken through EDGE, and no longer on Grants.gov. Those interested can apply on sfgrants.eda.gov.

This grant falls under the PARTNERSHIP PLANNING program. Applicants will be asked to submit applications via EDGE, with corresponding program instructions. If assistance is needed, applicants can contact their EDA representative.

The grant's goal is to fuel economic development, job creation, and private investment, especially in financially struggling areas of the United States. EDA accomplishes this by awarding planning and local technical assistance investments. Through the Planning program, EDA offers Partnership Planning, Short-Term Planning, and State Planning awards that enable recipients to establish and apply regional economic development plans.

The EDA invests in Partnership Planning for entities like District Organizations and Indian Tribes in EDA-designated Economic Development Districts. The aim is to assist in creating or modifying Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS), which outline and prioritize the recipient's strategic economic goals.

EDA also offers Short-Term and State Planning awards for planning activities that can potentially lead to job creation and retention. These are designed to help the nation's less economically developed regions, focusing on unemployment and underemployment issues.

In addition, under the Local Technical Assistance program, EDA bestows awards on entities like local or State organizations and institutions of higher education to reinforce their ability to initiate and effectively run economic development programs. The programs range from feasibility studies to disaster resiliency plans.

It's important to highlight that despite what is stated in the published Notice of Funding Opportunity, the ED900A form and the SF424B form are no longer required for application. Therefore, they have been removed from the package template.
