Overview

The Austin FY 2021 - FY 2023 EDA Planning and Local Technical Assistance is a program designed to support regional economic development, job creation, and private investment in economically distressed areas in the US. As of April 6, 2023, the application process has moved to a new grants management platform - the Economic Development Grants Experience (EDGE).

EDGE was created to improve transparency, user experience, and data quality. It simplifies application and grant management processes to make them more efficient. Applications no longer go through Grants.gov, they are now only accepted through EDGE. To apply, please visit sfgrants.eda.gov.

The agency introduces Partnership Planning as part of the Planning program. Designated planning organizations, including District Organizations and Indian Tribes from EDA-designated Economic Development Districts, are invited to submit their applications through EDGE. The aim of the program is to develop, implement, revise, or replace Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS), to help articulate and prioritize economic goals of their regions.

This new offer also includes Short-Term and State Planning awards to support economic development planning activities. The main focus is on creating and retaining high-quality jobs, especially for unemployed and underemployed in the most economically distressed regions.

The Local Technical Assistance program awards aim to enhance the capacity of local/state organizations, institutions of higher education, and other eligible entities to execute and promote effective economic development programs. These could include feasibility studies, impact analysis, disaster resiliency plans, and project planning.

Please note, previously needed ED900A and SF424B forms have been removed and are no longer required for a complete application, contrary to what is stated in the published Notice of Funding Opportunity under "Related Documents". For more details, please consult the full NOFO or reach out to your EDA point of contact.
