Overview

The DHS S&T Center of Excellence (COEs) Supplement Applications invite applications for supplemental funding from existing Centers of Excellence (COEs) recipients. The COEs are university-based, multi-disciplinary research and education hubs that conduct thorough, original and useful research. They are expected to pioneer both theoretical and empirical advancements, and modify traditional approaches to suit Homeland Security missions and fill technological gaps.

DHS expects that the research methods used under these funding continuations to be based on strict science and engineering principles. The knowledge produced by COE's research must be able to be assimilated with homeland security customers. The proposed projects should collectively produce significant original research results in their respective fields.

These supplemental funds will be considered for research and educational activities that fit within each COE's scope of work. The following COEs are recipients of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO):

1. National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology and Education (NCITE) at the University of Nebraska Omaha.

2. Soft Target Engineering to Neutralize the Threat Reality (SENTRY) at Northeastern University.

3. Critical Infrastructure Resilience Institute (CIRI) at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

4. Coastal Resilience Center (CRC) at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

5. Center for Criminal Investigations and Network Analysis (CINA) at George Mason University.

6. Center for Accelerating Operational Efficiency (CAOE) at Arizona State University.

7. Center for Cross-Border Threats Screening and Supply Chain Defense (CBTS) at Texas A&M University.
