Overview

The Microsystems Technology Office at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is calling for research proposals for their Forward-Looking Experimentation (FLEX) program. They are interested in ground-breaking ideas in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT) that could potentially address the numerous challenges that come with constructing a future that is driven by data.

The proposed research needs to explore innovative strategies that could potentially spur major scientific, device, or systemic advancements. The primary objective of the FLEX program is to determine the trajectory and timeline of significant disruptive advancements in ICT. It also aims to hasten the exploration of technology and foster the creation of intellectual property.

Apart from spurring technological advancements, the FLEX program also seeks to nurture the next generation of researchers in the U.S., thus bolstering the nation’s workforce. By achieving these goals, the program will lay a firm groundwork for future research programs.
