Overview

The HEAL Initiative offers Career Development Awards in Implementation Science for Substance Use Prevention and Treatment. This grant is intended for young researchers and clinicians who already have basic knowledge in the field of addiction. The goal is for these individuals to further develop their expertise in implementation science.

Applicants should propose training in implementation science methods and devise a research project that links with at least one of the four main areas of the HHS Overdose Prevention Strategy. These areas include primary prevention (which incorporates appropriate opioid prescribing), OUD treatment, harm reduction, and recovery support services.

The primary purpose of this grant initiative is to generate a network of implementation researchers dedicated to addressing the present overdose crisis. It aims to foster research careers that will positively influence the quality of addiction clinical practice in general. Ultimately, the scholar will ideally become one of the future leaders and mentors in implementation expertise and addiction prevention and treatment.
