Computational and Data-Enabled Science and Engineering in Mathematical and Statistical Sciences

The Computational and Data-Enabled Science and Engineering in Mathematical and Statistical Sciences (CDS&E-MSS) program is a grant that focuses on addressing the challenges presented by two principal factors. The first is the increase in computational experimentation, modeling, and simulation. The second is the explosion of digital data production and analysis from experimental and observational sources.

The primary objective of this program is to encourage the creation and development of the next generation of mathematical and statistical software tools. Additionally, it aims to develop the theory that will lay the foundation for these tools. The research funded by the CDS&E-MSS program is expected to significantly advance either mathematics or statistics and tackle computational or big-data challenges.

The CDS&E-MSS program will consider proposals whose Principal Investigator or co-Principal Investigator is a researcher in an area that the Division of Mathematical Sciences supports. It particularly welcomes proposals that involve multidisciplinary collaborations or provide opportunities for training junior mathematicians or statisticians through research involvement.

This program falls under the larger scope of the NSF Computational and Data-enabled Science and Engineering (CDS&E) enterprise.
