Overview
This grant focuses on a study of Microglial Pathophysiology in combined Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and HIV. It does not permit a Clinical Trial. The main objective is to develop specific microglial protein profiles linked with HIV and SUD, focused on different brain regions and cell-types. After developing these molecular profiles and understanding their interaction networks, the study will further explore how microglia, which carries HIV, might contribute to neurologic complications specifically found in cases where HIV and SUD occur together.
