Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for the Rare Diseases Clinical Research Consortia (RDCRC) for the Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network (RDCRN)

The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) is planning to publish a funding opportunity announcement (FOA) regarding the Rare Diseases Clinical Research Consortia (RDCRC) for the Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network (RDCRN) in 2024. The purpose of this FOA is to enhance the understanding, diagnosis, management, and treatment of rare diseases.

Essentially, NCATS wants to give financial support to specialized centers focused on conducting highly collaborative, multi-site, patient-centric, translational, and clinical research on rare diseases. An integral part of the research would be the study of outcome measures that address the untouched areas in the preparation of clinical trials. Through this research, the goal is to promote advances in the field of rare diseases research from its current condition.

The early announcement is intended to give potential applicants ample time to cultivate meaningful collaborations and plan effective projects. The application deadline is also set in 2024, the same year the FOA will be published.

This grant uses the U54 activity code and is a multi-project cooperative agreement, implying a high level of involvement from NIH program staff. Additional details will be provided closer to the FOA's release date.
