Overview
The chosen research centers should also act as national resources. This means they should provide educational and outreach activities to various groups, including the drug abuse research community, educational institutions, the general public, and policymakers.
A key expectation of a NIDA Research Center of Excellence is that it will transform knowledge in its respective field. The centers will also be instrumental in the career development of new investigators, offering them significant roles in the center's projects.
Lastly, one of the central goals of this grant program is to establish NIDA Research Centers that serve as national hubs, advancing drug abuse research by sharing findings, data, and resources. It is expected that these resources will be appropriately used to build upon and advance research in this field.
