Overview
This grant aims to fund analysis projects that assess the potential value of implementing specific clean hydrogen systems within regional settings across the United States. Each funded project will focus on a potential clean hydrogen deployment that involves production, delivery, storage and end usage, in a particular region which could be a single state or several neighbouring states.
The analysis will investigate potential hydrogen producers and consumers, as well as the infrastructure needed to connect them. The goal is to enable deployment with extensive engagement of local and regional stakeholders. These projects will measure key performance metrics like decarbonization potential, system cost, revenue potential and environmental justice metrics. These could include regional economic growth, job creation, reduction in pollutant emissions, and creation of educational and workforce development opportunities. Projects that could achieve higher emissions reductions will be prioritized.
The outcomes of analysis funded by this grant will help inform future clean hydrogen deployments and stimulate innovation around technology scale-up, manufacturing, and economies of scale.
