Overview

The NIDA Core "Center of Excellence" Grant Program (P30 Clinical Trial Optional) aims to unite investigators who are currently financially supported by the NIH, or other Federal or non-Federal entities. The ultimate goal is to bolster the effectiveness of ongoing research and broaden the research focus to encompass drug abuse and addiction. It is imperative that a Center using this program not only expands knowledge in the scientific fields it studies, but departs from the route of incremental work to explore new and inventive research directions.

While submitting an application, it is essential to demonstrate how it integrates and further promotes research in existing financed projects towards achieving these innovative directions. Consequently, each core activity of an individual should display a clear relation to the theme of the Center.

A vital expectation from a Center is to provide new investigators with research opportunities and experiences. Alongside this, a Center must also freely share all findings, data, and resources as a commitment to fulfill the program's goals. Encouraging fresh perspectives and collaborations on drug abuse and addiction research is one of the key goals of the NIDA Core Center of Excellence Grants (P30).
