Overview
The upcoming FOA will support the deployment of onsite clean energy technologies, contributing to the Biden Administration’s goal to generate carbon pollution-free electricity by 2035 and achieve a net-zero emissions economy by 2050. It comes at a time when more industrial sector stakeholders are seeking technical assistance to adopt onsite technology solutions that can help them reach their greenhouse gas reduction targets.
The types of technologies supported by the FOA include solar photovoltaics, solar thermal, wind power, renewable fuels, geothermal, battery storage, thermal storage, industrial heat pumps, combined heat and power, district energy, and other clean energy technologies.
Please note, this is only a Notice of Intent. The EERE intends to issue the FOA soon, but details are still subject to change. The EERE may not issue the FOA at all, or it could issue an FOA that significantly differs from the current description.
The EERE will not answer any questions in relation to this particular Notice. Once the official FOA is released, there will be a way for potential applicants to ask questions.
In preparation for the potential FOA, individuals and organizations interested in submitting applications should start developing partnerships, ideas, and data collection. The EERE is also preparing a “Teaming Partner List” to help foster new project teams for this FOA, allowing organizations that might want to participate in an application to express their interest and search for potential partners.
