Overview

The Plant Genome Research Program (PGRP) offers a grant that supports large-scale genomic studies on plant biology. This program aims to address significant biological, societal, and economic matters that are challenging yet essential. PGRP promotes the creation of novel tools, technologies, and resources that provide a wide spectrum of the plant research community with the ability to answer scientific questions on a genomic scale.

The program highlights the necessity of focusing on the scale and depth of the question being addressed, and the creativity of the approach taken. The data obtained from plant genomics under this program should be useful, easily accessible, integrated across wide scales, and have a high impact on the field of biology. PGRP also asserts the importance of training, widespread participation, and career development, all of which are considered crucial for scientific progress. Therefore, these elements must be a part of all the projects funded by PGRP.

Applicants can apply through two funding tracks. The first one, Research-PGR Track, supports genomics-scale plant research. The research project should focus on addressing fundamental questions in biology, including processes of economic and/or societal importance. The second track, TRTech-PGR Track, centers on developing tools, resources, and technological innovations that further assist in functional plant genomics.
