Overview
Applicants are encouraged to apply from their second to their fourth year of cumulative mentored postdoctoral research experience. Support from the NINDS K01 is accessible within the initial six years of their collective postdoctoral research experience.
This program's critical aspect is the completion of a thoughtfully planned, in-depth career development plan along with the creation of an impactful research project. Because of this, applications are highly encouraged during the early period of postdoctoral eligibility.
The aim is for the grantee by the end of the K01 award period to be ready to launch an independent research career. They should have a well-constructed, substantial research project and the necessary expertise to establish themselves as a leader in their field.
This specific funding opportunity (FOA) is specifically designed for applicants planning to head an independent clinical trial, a feasibility study of a clinical trial, or a different ancillary study to an existing trial as part of their research and career development.
