Overview

The Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP) in the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives has announced a grant opportunity for the Special Emphasis Research Career Award (SERCA) K01 recipients. This grant, the Limited Competition: Small Grant Program, is designated only for those who have completed the first two years (24 months) of their SERCA K01 award.

The purpose of this grant program is to improve the research capabilities of the SERCA K01 awardees as they transition in their career to become fully independent researchers. ORIP is using the R03 mechanism to enhance these projects which could include pilot and feasibility studies, secondary analysis of existing data, small, self-contained research projects, development of research methodology, as well as the development of new research technology.

The R03 is designed specifically to bolster research projects that realistically can be completed within a span of two years and that require low levels of funding.

Please note that this Funding Opportunity Announcement is unable to accept applications proposing clinical trial(s). It is critical to remember that the intent of this grant program is not to fund clinical trials, but to support small-scale research projects likely to be completed within a couple of years.
