Overview

The National Institutes of Health Common Fund has put in place the Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Research Program, also known as Kids First. The aim of this initiative is to build a valuable data resource for research into the genetics of childhood cancers and structural birth defects, mainly by curating genome sequence and phenotypic data. This data will be gathered from patient cohorts and can be accessed via a centralized online portal, which also provides analysis tools for researchers.

The program encourages widespread research and collaboration, with the aim to enhance diagnostic accuracy and bring targeted therapeutic solutions to the surface. The focus of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to help small research projects which concentrate on the analysis of these genomic datasets originated through Kids First, particularly in relation to childhood cancer or structural birth defects.

In addition, creation of new processes, tools or algorithms for thorough analysis of genomic, phenotypic and clinical data relevant to Kids First is encouraged. This grant does not permit clinical trials.
